Starting to see the end of the tunnel, winter and the project for this time.

The good news has been pooring in this week. First Niklas told me that he had found a lump of aluminium so the caliper brackets isn't going to be steel as first intended.
Second I found a really cheap left side fairing on ebay so now I will have a complete set of trackday fairings.
And thirdly if things go my way the next couple of weeks a steering damper will find it's place on the bike also. Cross fingers.

In the next post I will try and put up a video of the bike.

Coming together

Almost new tank, got it real cheap to.
Brakes are almost done, they are currently going trough the final polish.

Real racing exotica parts.

Yup, turns out that some spares that I got with the bike was used in some real racing events.
Probably not WSBK level but and perhaps not in the most fashionable manner.
The spare tank turned out ( not that surprisingly ) to be just as dented as the original unit.

Under the very most race-spec black paintjob I found a very impressive job that consisted of about 5 mm (!) of bondo. No use in stripping this tank of it, I'm just going to sand it to a descent shape, paint it white and use it on trackdays.

Now on to get a nice original tank then... eBay here we go....

Modern technology is making the life easier and more frustrating at the same time.

First it was meant that I would post a small entry in the blog with my smartphone, but I couldn't get that irritating little thing to work as I wanted it to. So there is a post missing somewhere I have no idea where it is but it really isn't that important and I don't care that much. That was the frustrating thing.
The things with technology that makes my life easier is the software Autodesk Inventor and the CNC operated milling machine. But most importantly is my friend Niklas who is going to help me with the caliper brackets using the earlier mentioned inventions.  Thank you thank you Niklas I owe you a huge deal in return.

Bits and pieces.

Finally I have got some work done on the bike.
The guy that I keep it with has been on vacation in Thailand all of December ( lucky bastard ) and got home last weekend.
It was a satisfying moment when I saw my bike again after being away from it, kind of when you meet a good friend or perhaps even someone special ;) A feeling of warmth and calmness runs through your body and when you just can sit down, relax and concentrate on working on the bike it truly is therapy for your mind ( but not necessarily cheaper than going to a therapist ).

So the work then.
I started off by replacing the light and indicator switch because the previous owner as iv'e mentioned before
has had a few visits in the gravel trap on it. The old switch was fully operational but I just couldn't stand watching the scratched thing whenever I rode the bike.

I also started to fiddle with the brakes. The standard units are sold to a bloke in Jönköping who is going to put them on his Firestorm ( Superhawk is you live in USA )  and are going to be replaced with radial monobloc calipers and a master cylinder from a CBR 1000RR Fireblade -08. I like to outbrake people on the track.
Me and a friend of mine have also started on working in his garage putting together some benches so that I can start mending my other set of fairings.
I am looking for a left hand side fairing panel and a upper fairing if someone maybe has some pieces just laying around or knows someone who does please post a commentary.

Work on the bike again tomorrow, the plan is to work out a blueprint of the new caliper brackets and start sorting out some really cheap fixes on the wiring loom.
